Del City’s Jordan “JoJo” Hernandez
VYPE: How long have you played softball, and what is your position?
Jordan “Jojo” Hernandez: I started when I was five years old and haven’t stopped since. My positions are first base and pitcher.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
JH: I first got interested in softball whenever I started playing little, just learning the basics of the game. Ever since that day I loved softball. I have learned not just the game but life skills with it.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory in your time playing for Del City?
JH: Just meeting the girls and growing bonds with my coaches, they definitely believed in me whenever I didn’t.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite team to play against? If so, why?
JH: I would definitely say Carl Albert High School because they are a team we’ve been wanting to beat every time we play them it’s a competition and we work hard to beat them. Sometimes we come short like a point or two, but we all play hard and we grow as a team.
VYPE: Let’s talk about your teammates. Which player on your team would you not want to go up against? Who is the fastest? The loudest? Who keeps everyone laughing?
JH: One teammate I would not want to go up against is Ava because she is a hard worker and is a great softball player. The fastest player is Makenzie or Zamora. The loudest is probably Lailoni. The one that keeps everyone laughing is definitely Cheyan.
VYPE: What song hypes you up before a game?
JH: The one song I listen to before a game is “All I Do Is Win.”
VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?
JH: My mom, dad, sister, coaches and my teammates – all of them are my role models because they believed in me whenever I didn’t believe in myself and pushed me to be better. I do want to mention Coach Tiger, this year as a freshman she helped me so much and believed in me more than I did at times, so she was a big role model for me.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school?
JH: My favorite subjects are math and science.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
JH: Go to college and go into social work – I want to help people.
